About the event
In recent years, conspiracy theories have re-emerged with renewed intensity across
political, cultural, and digital arenas. Far from being marginal, conspiracy thinking
constitutes a recurring mode of sense-making in moments of perceived crisis and social
dislocation. Contemporary conspiratory narratives have been mobilized to explain global
phenomena ranging from financial instability and migration to climate change, the COVID-
19 pandemic, political polarization, and the war in the Middle East. Their circulation has
